And NEWS from further afield for YOUR Prayers
Martina Best:   She has found recent months in Turkey tiring and has often felt worn out as the challenge of counselling people in combination with changes in the church has proved unsettling. She feels that the Lord is teaching her not to burden herself with everyone else’s problems and would value prayer in working this through.

FI Romania Please pray for all the kids that we met over the summer camp and for the team as they start their work in the new school year throughout the county
Islam and “aggressive secularism” are threatening Britain’s Christian values, the former Bishop of Rochester has said to The Daily Telegraph before he stepped down.  Dr Michael Nazir-Ali said there must be a “clear recognition of where Britain has come from” in order to withstand attacks from either direction.  He could have held his position for several more years but instead plans to work with persecuted Christians overseas and Muslim converts to Christianity in Britain.

UK's teenage girls are world’s worst drunks
The UK’s teenage girls get drunk more than those in any other developed country, a new international report has found. A third of all 13 and 15-year-olds in the UK have been drunk at least twice and 15-year-old girls in the UK are more likely to have been drunk than boys, according to the study. It pointed out that while the UK spends an above-average £90,000 on each child from birth to age 18, this has yielded disappointing results. Along with a poor record on alcohol use, the UK’s teenage pregnancy rate is fourth highest among developed countries, behind Mexico, Turkey and the United States.

Christians shouldn't keep faith private, says Brown
Britain remains a Christian country and believers should not privatise their faith, Gordon Brown has told a Christian radio station. When challenged over claims that Christianity is becoming increasingly sidelined in the UK, Mr Brown said it is “impossible” to privatise faith because it underpins people’s convictions about what makes a better society. “I don’t accept this idea of privatisation”, he said, adding that “what people want to do is to make their views current”. Mr Brown’s comments will be received with skepticism by those who say recent laws have made it difficult for Christians to practice their beliefs openly.
