Street Pastors

Street Pastors is an inter-denominational Church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to care, listen and dialogue. It was pioneered in London in January 2003 by Rev Les Isaac, and brought to Wrexham in 2006.

The team in Wrexham was set up by Ascension Trust and run by a local coordinator with support from Ascension Trust and local churches, in partnership with Police, Council and other statutory agencies.

There are two areas in Wrexham where the Street Pastors work. On a Friday night, and the last Saturday of the month, a team is in Wrexham Town Centre from 10 pm until about 4am. The second team is out in Acton on a Saturday evening from 8pm until 10pm.

To be a Street Pastor you need to be over 18, a church member and you must be able to commit to the training programme. The programme is designed to fully equip Street Pastors to respond to the needs of all the people that they engage with on the streets and takes place over 12 sessions.

ChristChurch heartily embraces the vision of Street Pastors and a good number of its members are active in the town wide ministry. Rosemary Burslem is the Street Pastor that ChristChurch specifically prays for .
