Servants to the Saints – Angels

God’s protective love & providential watch over us is amazing.
He ceaselessly & tirelessly watches over our going out & coming in (Psalm 121).
Even more than that He has assigned His servants the angels to watch over His people – the saints.
You & I are surrounded by angels who watch over us.
Praise be to the Lord for His awesome providence & protection for each one of his beloved children.

But to which of the angels has He ever said:
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”?
Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:13-14

The Scripture above is quoted from Psalm 110. A Messianic psalm.
The writer to the Hebrews points out the superiority of the Son – Jesus the Saviour – over the angels.
Angels stand in the presence of God (Luke 1:19; Revelation 8:2) but the Son sits enthroned forever. Hallelujah!
The angels are God’s servants & are assigned the task of ministering to those who will inherit salvation – the saints.
That means angels minister to every believer.

To minister means to serve or to be in service to others.
The service they provide, ordered by the Lord, is for & to the saints.
The serve us by bringing supernatural assistance & strength in times of need.
Jesus was strengthened by angels in both the wilderness & in the garden (Matthew 4:11; Luke 22:43).
Paul was reassured by an angel in the midst of a shipwreck (Acts 27:23-24).
The angels at times bring answers to our prayers (Acts 12:5-10).
They also provide protection for the believer (Psalm 91:11; Daniel 6:22; 2 Kings 6).
I’m so grateful of at least one occasion when I know for sure an angel saved my life!

The angels play their God given part in God’s providence & protection over us.
It is wonderful to know that the angels are assisting us & aiding us in this life.
Whilst we are to be thankful for that our gratitude goes always unto the Lord.
That is because Jesus is commander in chief over all the angels.
Don’t forget the angels but give all the glory & thanks unto God!!!

For reflection

  • How aware am I of angels ministering into my life?
  • Which service have I received & benefited of from angels?
  • Meditate upon the ministry of angels unto the saints.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your loving, ceaseless, providential watch over my life,
Thank you that You have assigned Your servants the angels to assist & aid me.
Jesus thank you that You are Lord of All,
Far above & far superior to all the angels.
Holy Spirit keep my heart thankful & ever looking unto the Lord,
Grateful for the ministry of angels but never glorifying them.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
