Our Saviour and Lord

Psalm 20 is a royal Psalm highlighting the saving power of the Lord.
King David & the nation acknowledge their need of God.
The Psalm is sandwiched with that cry for help & deliverance (Psalm 20:1 & 9).
That salvation is shown through God who is defender, deliverer, protector, help, support & strength.
The one in who fully accepts them & the source of their success. The one who is their victory (time & again).
Today I want to highlight some things the Psalm teaches us.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
They have bowed down and fallen;
But we have risen and stand upright.
Save, Lord!
May the King answer us when we call. Psalm 20:7-9

Israel trusted not in numbers & military strength or might.
They trusted in the Name of the Lord.
The Name of the One in whom there is salvation & power.
Trust in the Lord is the root & source of all our triumphs.
Our victory is in our Great King Jesus. Keep trusting in His Great Name.

The Lord loves us & is ever listening to us.
His ear is ever inclined towards us His beloved children.
The King answers us when we call. Hallelujah!!!
His banner over us Is love, love, love.
He cannot love you anymore & He will not love you any less!!!
Rest secure in His great love for you.

Israel looked to God for deliverance in battle.
They prayed & called upon the Lord but still needed to prepare for & head into physical battle.
Our King Jesus headed into battle ALONE on our behalf.
He triumphed overcoming sin & death where we were powerless to save ourselves.
He overcame so that we might overcome (Revelation 12:11).

Like Israel our rising (resurrection) is caught up in the Lord.
They kept remembering the Lord their God & we must keep remembering (daily faith) Jesus.
Jesus is the one who commands & holds our eternal destiny.
Keep close to Christ the Saviour.

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I trusting in & remembering Jesus my saviour?
  • Do I rest secure knowing that I am loved completely by the Lord?
  • Meditate upon the power of the Name of our God.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that there is power in Your Great Name,
Keep my fully trusting in your great love & care of me.
Jesus thank you that You are the Saviour & my saviour,
That in You I find power & strength to overcome in life.
Holy Spirit keep me looking unto & calling upon the power of Your Name,
Lifting my prayers & petitions & staying close to You.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
