Unto Us a Son is Given
Both Simeon and Anna were waiting in earnest expectation for the Kingdom of God to come in power.
Simeon is awaiting the Consolation of Israel & Anna redemption in Jerusalem (Israel).
In Jesus, through their prophetic gifts, they recognised that the long promised Messianic king & kingdom had come.
Their hopes & dreams fulfilled in Christ.
And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout,
waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. Luke 2:25
And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem. Luke 2:38
That was the divine purpose of Christ’s life.
To bring the kingdom of God in all its fullness on this earth.
The time was fulfilled (Galatians 4:4). The King & His Kingdom were at hand.
Through the miracle of the incarnation Christ the King was amongst us.
Immanuel – God with us.
The incarnation was the first step of that Kingdom mission on the earth.
Christ grew in wisdom, grace, Spirit strength & favour (Luke 2:40, 52) & in launching His earthly ministry came preaching the Kingdom (Mark 1:15).
The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe the gospel (Good News).
The incarnation led to the intercession of the Cross & the miracle of the resurrection.
The decisive victory in the age old battle between God & the rebellious forces of evil.
Through the cross & resurrection the Kingdom in all it’s fullness on this earth was guaranteed.
That day will come when Christ returns in glory (Revelation 11:15).
The Kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of the Lord & His Christ and He will reign forever & ever.
The rule & reign of God upon this earth for evermore. Hallelujah what a mighty Redeemer & Saviour.
Eden enhanced & Heaven’s purity, peace & perfection to evermore experience & enjoy (Revelation 21 & 22).
Love, light & the life of God triumph eternally.
We live as Christ’s Worshipers & Witnesses in the overlap of the ages.
The Kingdom has come, is coming, & will come in all it’s fullness.
Our assignment from God as Christ’s disciples is to seek first His Kingdom (Matthew 6:33).
To declare & demonstrate that the Kingdom of God is here amongst us.
It is His good pleasure to give it to us in increasing measure (Luke 12:32).
The Kingdom that knows no limits or end (Isaiah 9:6-7) brought to us through the promised Son, Seed & Saviour.
He came as one of us – to reside with us, to redeem us, to rule & reign with us.
O the depths of the majesty, glory, wisdom & knowledge of God.
Maranatha – Come Lord Jesus come.
- In what ways am I growing & developing in the strength of the Spirit?
- Are we wholeheartedly seeking first the Kingdom of God?
- Am I attentive to my kingdom assignment?
- Mediate upon Christ the King & the Kingdom of God.
A song related to this theme:
Thank you for the great gift of Christ our Redeemer.
Your promised Son, Seed & Saviour who brought & brings the eternal kingdom.
Through the power & presence of Your indwelling Spirit,
Help & strengthen us to seek first Your kingdom,
To partner fully with You as fellow workers in hastening the day of Christ`s glorious return.
In the mighty name of Jesus,
