Missional Communities

Over it’s history ChristChurch has used a home groups and small groups model.

ChristChurch is committed to growing and developing the Missional Community model. There is tremendous flexibility in the forms of Missional Communities (MCs). They are anchored around the three core relationships of life – UP to God, IN to family and friends, and OUT to the wider society which they seek to be a blessing to. In practice MCs do tend to involve certain things pretty regularly, albeit in slightly different ways according to their context. MC’s will go OUT together in specific missional activities.

Every Missional Community is unique and works out its own rhythm of ‘Up, In & Out’. The intention is that they are highly accessible to the culture into which they are planted. Here are our current Missional Communities:-

ACT – focused on activities in Acton
Cefn Mawr – based  in Cefn Mawr
Discovery – activities for all the family.
TWM – focused on townwide mission
#Sundaze (Youth) – for children and youth of ChristChurch.
Walk This Way  – a walking group
BaseCamp – Introduction to Missional Communities

ACT

2nd Saturday of the month – Ti Church meets in ACRC – Lunch, Laughs and Learning.
2nd Thursday – Thursday Communion

We also run Chatty Craft on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at Acton Community Resource Centre. You are welcome to come along, bring a craft you are working on and join us for a cuppa. There is a suggested donation of £2. There is Chatty Books on the 3rd Friday of the month at Acton Community Resource Centre. We read and discuss a variety of book and hire them from the library, so no need to buy them. There is a suggested donation of £2

Cefn Mawr

The Cefn Mawr Missional Community formed from a Bible Study group in September 2015, tasked with planting a gospel church in the village and area near the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (a UNESCO World Heritage site). We meet in a community centre in the heart of Cefn Mawr.

A core of 10-12 disciples meets every Thursday for worship, friendship, prayer and Bible study or discipleship training. Once a month we devote a Thursday to a Community Social, inviting others we’re connecting with to a relaxed evening of fun, friendship… and FOOD!

In February 2017 we launched a monthly “church for the unchurched” and for those who are unlikely to do church in the traditional way. The Meeting Place runs every first Sunday in the community centre, attended by 20-30 of all ages, from a variety of local churches – and none! We gather café-style with cuppas and cakes and conversations, plus a simple learning opportunity about the God revealed in Jesus – and His love for all that He has made.

Discovery

Discovery is a group run by young families. We meet every first Sunday for Discovery Church which is suited for primary school aged children with the aim of bringing the bible to life through song, dance, craft, stories and games. Following Discovery Church we share lunch together.

We meet every Thursday for Discovery bible study where we explore the message shared on a Sunday morning and look to discover more in a relaxed environment.

We aim to share life together as much as possible and often arrange to meet on the weekends for social time together as families.

TWM

TWM Missional Community: meets twice monthly on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm

TWM (which stands for Town Wide Missions but is pronounced Toom) meets on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of the month in a home environment. Although as the name would suggest those who attend are involved in some sort of local missional activity there is no requirement for anyone joining the group to be so involved. The first meeting of the month is more focused on scripture and reflection on the message from the recent Sunday morning speakers together with prayer time in support of each other as well as the various ministries that folk are involved in. The second meeting is a more relaxed social event with cake usually featuring with a BBQ in the summer and a New Year celebration in the winter. We have had our own version of Desert Island discs, a reflection on the Icons of the 20th Century and yes Brexit has been discussed.
The missions that we support as individuals and as a group include the Hospital Chaplaincy; Wrexham Foodbank; Teams 4 U; ICFW; IPAC; Open Doors; Drop-In for Asylum Seekers and others.

Walk this Way

WTW is a group that meets regularly for walks, food and fellowship. On the first Sunday, we meet for food and fellowship, usually at lunchtime. The second and fourth Saturdays of the month we meet to walk. Everyone welcome, including dogs. Each time the group meets we remember our mission contacts around the globe – FI in Romania, GNF in Hungary, Shekinah Christian Church in Zambia, Missionaries in Turkey, Sagoal and the Aanandit Church in Nepal.

The details of the walks will be posted on the ChristChurch Facebook Page

Base Camp

Base Camp is an introduction to Missional Communities, and a first point of contact for people who join us. People attend Base Camp with a view to move on to other MCs as they feel led by God. We introduce the rhythm of ‘Up, In and Out’. We aim to increase people’s knowledge and experience of the life and witness of ChristChurch and the breadth and range of Missional Community work and witness. We usually meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Please contact us for more details.
