The table set before us

In & through His great love, revealed in Christ, the Lord sets a banqueting table before us.
A sumptuous & bountiful table of redemption, relationship & resourcing.
Yesterday we looked at the Table of Redemption. A place flowing with forgiveness & freedom.
There we sit at the place where our past is dealt with, our present is sanctified & our future is secured. Wonderful!
Today we will look at the Table of Relationship. A place of family, friendship & fellowship.

And the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “I have given to your master’s son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house. You therefore, and your sons and your servants, shall work the land for him, and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have food to eat. But Mephibosheth your master’s son shall eat bread at my table always.” 12 Samuel 9:9-10

“But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” Luke 22:29-30

This table – The King’s Table – is a place of acceptance & affirmation.
We have the great privilege of being invited to feast in the presence of our mighty King.
We are daily invited to eat the bread from His table (Matthew 6:11).
We dine & delight in the presence of the King. What a delight!

This table is laden with love. He brings us to His banqueting house & His banner over us is love (Song of Solomon 2:4).
A place where family is welcome, friendship is deepened & fellowship is enjoyed.
The King acknowledges that we belong to Him & with Him. Jesus has secured us a place.
We eat daily at His table like Mephibosheth & the disciples.
There is ever a place for us at this kingdom banquet. So Good!!!

It is a table to rejoice & revel at as family & friends of the King.
It is laden with all manner of delights for our spiritual sustenance.
Even the crumbs that fall from this table are for the healing & deliverance of the nations (Mark 7:27-29)!!!
Just imagine what the choicest morsels at this table can do!!
Wow what a sumptuous feast. Feast to your fill!!!

For Reflection

  • Am I secure under the King’s banner of love?
  • Do I have a good spiritual appetite?
  • Meditate upon the privilege of sitting daily at the King’s Table.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that You have set the table of relationship before me,
That I am invited to dine to my delight with You through Christ’s great sacrifice.
Jesus thank you that in Your goodness & grace You have secured & reserved a pace for me.
Holy Spirit help me to daily draw sustenance & spiritual strength from the King’s table.
In Jesus mighty Name.
