Name above all names

There is power in the wonderful, beautiful name of Jesus.
It is the name that is above all other names. Mighty, magnificent & majestic KING JESUS.
The unique name of the Saviour (Matthew 1:21) & the Name above all names, King of kings & Lord of lords (1 Timothy 6:15).
Jesus, Messiah, Anointed One the only name by which we may be saved.

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

The bible clearly teaches that there is salvation in no one else but Jesus. NO other name under heaven.
No one else has paid the price for sin or risen from the dead to bring forgiveness & eternal life to humanity.
There is one saviour, & one mediator – Jesus Christ ALONE (1 Timothy 2:5).
Jesus Christ is the unique, bespoke, only begotten Son & Saviour of humanity.
It is calling upon His name, & the name of Jesus alone, that salvation is available (Romans 10:13).
This teaching & doctrine is known as the exclusivity of Christ.

Amid an increasingly pluralistic & multi-faith society Christianity still claims the exclusivity of Christ for salvation.
This is something that causes deep offense & it is massively under attack in our day.
It is a very unpopular teaching which is very politically incorrect with Christians accused of intolerance as a result.
The early church stood firm on the exclusivity of Christ for salvation amid a multi-faith & pluralistic society.
They stood firm in the spite of severe persecution & despite being under the power of a hostile host empire.
We must continue to stand firm on this core gospel truth in our day.

God reveals his truth, existence & love through creation (Romans 1:19-21), through Christ the Saviour & through the Holy Scriptures – the Bible.
His light & love shines forth in many different ways, but it is made radiant & abundantly clear in Christ the Saviour.
Every faith or philosophy may contain elements or shades of God’s truth but it is only revealed fully in Jesus.
God has spoken through His Son (Hebrews 1:1-4) the Saviour to reveal Himself, along with the way of salvation, & nothing needs to be added!!!
God in his patient love & amazing grace is seeking for all to come to Christ the saviour for salvation (1 Timothy 2:1-7).
We are those tasked with knowing God & making him known (Acts 1:8).
Through our worship & through our witness may we make Jesus the Saviour known- however unpopular that might be or become!!!
May we like Paul boldly & unashamedly preach the gospel of Christ & make known the way of salvation (Romans 1:16-17).
The power of God unto salvation has been committed forever to the name of Jesus – Name above all names.

For Reflection

  • Am I praying regularly for those who are not yet Christians to come to know Christ the Saviour?
  • In what ways am I making my worship & witness of Christ known?
  • Meditate upon Jesus the sole Name under heaven by which humanity may be saved.

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that Jesus my Saviour has the Name above all names,
And that He alone carries the Name by which we may be saved.
Jesus thank you that you paid the price for my salvation,
That you are the Way, the Truth & the Life,
Holy Spirit keep me worshipping & witnessing for Christ my Lord,
Knowing Him more & boldly making Him known.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
Amen
