Revelation in the Holy Spirit

God has prepared so many wonders & treasures for the child of God.
This is part of the blessing & birth right of every believer ‘In Christ’.
The Holy Spirit reveals (unlocks & makes known) the wisdom & mystery of the divine plan of God to Christians, & through Christians.
The Apostle Paul points this out to the Corinthian church as he writes to instruct & encourage them in the way of Christ.
It is picked up in Chapter 2 of 1 Corinthians & will be the theme & focus for this TFD series.
We will therefore explore & expound 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 over the next few days.

But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 NKJV

The main thrust of this chapter is that Paul is fully committed to preaching Christ crucified through the wisdom & power of God.
Christ crucified is the manifold wisdom & hidden mystery of God’s eternal plan of salvation for mankind.
The Holy Spirit is the revealer (discloser/ unlocker & opener) of that divine wisdom & mystery.
It is spiritual wisdom, insight, knowledge & truth received through revelation from the Holy Spirit.
Worldly wisdom & human knowledge cannot fathom, understand or comprehend it!!
God in His great wisdom has promised it (through throughout the old Testament) it to those who will love Him.
It is therefore freely (& liberally) granted unto all those who are ‘In Christ’ & love & serve the Lord. SELAH

Those who love the Lord are those who through affectionate reverence trust & obey God.
They display this by accepting the sacrifice of Christ on their behalf & by putting their faith & trust in Jesus as their personal Saviour.
They gratefully receive the benefits & blessings God abundantly bestows upon those ‘In Christ’. |
In embracing the Promised One (Jesus Christ) they lay hold of the great promises throughout scripture. Hallelujah!!
This is one of those great promises. To freely receive, through the Spirit, all that God has laid up in store for His children.

These great truths & spiritual realities were prepared (laid up) & reserved for those who would respond in love to the Lord.
Human eyes, ears & hearts cannot lay hold of these things as they are spiritual commodities.
As such they are only known through the divine revelation, wisdom & knowledge that comes from the Holy Spirit.
They are the eternal & divine purpose for the God-designed life that is only found ‘In Christ’. SELAH
A great delight for those that discover it & a huge thrill & marvellous adventure to live it. Hallelujah!!
All yours in, & through, Christ & His Spirit.

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I loving & serving the Lord?
  • How is the wisdom & mystery of the gospel being revealed in me & through me?
  • Meditate upon the great & glorious revelation that the Holy Spirit brings to believers.

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that through the Holy Spirit You reveal the divine wisdom & mystery of Your plan of salvation,
And that it is made a reality for me in Jesus Christ my Saviour.
Jesus, thank You that through your sacrificial death & glorious resurrection I am saved & experience eternal resurrection life,
Reveal the profound truth & awesome wonder of this divine wisdom & eternal mystery in me, & through me.
Holy Spirit keep releasing the revelation of the Lord to me, illuminating & enlightening my knowledge & understanding of the Lord,
So that I may live & walk in the fullness of His love, light & life.
This I ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen
