Unto us a Son is given
Isaiah prophesied the great names that highlight Christ the Messiah’s wondrous nature.
Immanuel – God with us – Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Jesus our saviour is the Prince of Peace.
This wonderful name revealing the great Shalom & harmony that Christ alone can provide.
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
Prince of Peace
Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
The captain, ruler, chief or prince of shalom.
Shalom is the great promise to the people of God.
Completeness, harmony, well-being, prosperity, health, well-being, safety, soundness, tranquility.
These are all the wonderful benefits that are found in Christ our Prince of Peace.
Jesus the Prince of Peace is the bringer of & giver of peace (shalom).
His sacrificial death restores our relationship with the Father (Romans 5:1; Ephesians 2:13-18).
Jesus not only restores peace between us & God but He also brings peace to our human relationships.
We can now live together in harmony as brothers & sisters ‘in Christ’ in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3).
Christ also brings peace & harmony to body, soul & spirit (Philippians 4:6-7).
He alone gives the peace that passeth all understanding.
His peace is also the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22).
So many blessings in the peace & shalom that Jesus brings & gives.
As Prince of Peace Jesus rules over an eternal everlasting Kingdom.
Of the increase of His government & peace there will be no end (Isaiah 9:7).
Christ alone brings an eternal everlasting expanding peace.
He has made peace available to all humanity & He will make peace between the nations.
Peace was pronounced & proclaimed (Luke 2:14) when Christ first came & peace will be established forever when He comes again (Revelation 21 & 22).
How marvellous is that. Maranatha, come Lord Jesus.
But best of all Jesus the Prince of Peace is our peace.
So, So, GOOD!!!
- Am I truly experiencing the shalom that Jesus gives to me?
- How well am I living in the bond of peace with my brothers & sisters ‘In Christ’?
- Mediate upon Christ our Prince of Peace.
A song related to the theme:
Thank you for the great gift of Christ,
The Son & Saviour who is our Prince of Peace.
Thank you Jesus for the peace & shalom You bring,
May I live in the fullness & power of Your great peace.
Through the presence & power of the indwelling Spirit,
Help me live in the bond of peace with my fellow brethren,
May the fruit of Your peace be in abundance in my life.
In the mighty name of Jesus,
