Three Key Kingdom Dynamics

Jesus came to this earth to secure the victory that would see the Kingdom of God triumph over the kingdoms of this world (Revelation 11:15). In Christ we experience the ultimate exodus & return from exile as He frees us from sin &death, defeats the power & forces of evil & guarantees the return of YHWH to Zion. Through Jesus God’s kingdom will come fully upon this earth (Isaiah 9:6-7; Daniel 7:13-14).
Today we will further explore the first dynamic – an exodus from sin & death & a return from exile.

From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Revelation 4:17

Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Revelation 11:15

Through the exodus God rescued Israel from the tyranny & oppression of Pharaoh in Egypt. Israel was in slavery.
‘In Christ’ we are rescued from the tyranny & oppression of sin & death.
Repentance towards God & faith in the saving work of Christ is the key to freedom (Acts 20:21).
Sin holds us captive as slaves & death is the penalty of sin.
All have sinned (Romans 3:23) & fallen short of God’s glory so all of us are subject to death.
Those who believe in Christ the Saviour will live even though they die (John 11:25).
‘In Christ’ we are no slaves to sin but bond slaves unto God (Romans 6:15-23). Ransomed & redeemed.
A spiritual exodus of even greater wonder than Israel’s redemption for Egypt!!

Israel returned from exile in Babylon after 70 years in captivity.
Repeated sin, immorality & idolatry had led to their eviction from the Promised Land.
‘In Christ’ we return from the exile of our rejection of & rebellion against God.
Through Him we are reconciled & restored to relationship with our heavenly Father (2 Corinthians 5:19).
The parable of the lost son is a great example of this (Luke 15:11-32).
The salvation we have in Christ is something to truly & repeatedly celebrate.
From alienated enemies (Colossians 1:21) to friends & dearly beloved children of God (1 John 3:1).
A truly remarkable spiritual return from exile

Jesus rescued us from sin & death & restored us to relationship with God.
We experience a spiritual exodus & return from exile through the death & resurrection of Christ.
Having been saved (Romans 10:13) we are to proclaim that salvation to others.
We have an important role to play in seeing others gain entry into the Kingdom of God.
Lord use us so others might know the blessing of Your salvation & the bounty of Your Kingdom.

For Reflection

  • In what ways do I celebrate the Saviour & my salvation?
  • How am I seeking to make others aware of the salvation available ‘in Christ’?
  • Meditate upon the exodus & return from exile we receive ‘in Christ’.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the salvation I have In Christ,
That You were in Your Son reconciling me unto Yourself.
Jesus thank you for the exodus & return form exile I have experienced through You.
Holy Spirit help me to keep celebrating so great a salvation,
And keep me witnessing to Christ my Saviour.
This I ask in, & through, Your mighty Name.
