Three Key Kingdom Dynamics
Jesus brought the kingdom of God through a new exodus, a new return from exile & the return of Yahweh to dwell amongst His people.
That ministry now continues through Jesus’ disciples as they operate in the power of the Spirit (Mark 16:16-20).
The Kingdom of God comes to & through God’s people via passion, prayer & practical action.
We have seen how it all starts with passion as we are to seek first the kingdom (Matthew 6:33).
That passion expresses itself & moves through to prayer – thy kingdom come.
In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10
One of the ways we seek the Kingdom is through prayer.
Jesus taught His first disciples a model & framework for prayer. It is a DAILY model.
It is a prayer that we His modern day disciples are to take up & continue.
It is a prayer about living in & ministering in the Kingdom of God.
Prayer being one of the key ways we partner with the Lord as fellow workers in the Kingdom (1 Corinthians 3:9).
There are a number of areas outlined for prayer in the kingdom prayer that Jesus taught.
- Praise & adoration of the Father
- Petitioning for the Kingdom & heaven to come upon this earth
- The Provision of the Father on a daily basis
- The Pardon & forgiving love that flows from the Lord to us & through us
- Protection from our adversary Satan who is the enemy of our souls
- Praise to the Lord & Father who has the Kingdom power & glory
A praise prayer sandwich to be prayed daily.
The Kingdom of God also comes through prayer.
We will not see & experience the Kingdom of God in power unless we are a praying people.
Jesus developed spiritual strength & power through His disciplined life & rhythms of prayer & fasting.
This is evidenced in & through His deliverance ministry (Mark 9:29).
Without prayer we go nowhere however prayer alone is not enough.
Prayer must be combined with practical action (more on that tomorrow).
Lord stir our hearts to deepen our desire & practice in Kingdom prayer.
Father let Your Kingdom come, Let Your will be done – in me & through me.
- How faithful am I in prayer?
- Am I in a trusted rhythm & reliable discipline when it comes to prayer?
- Meditate upon the role of prayer in seeking & seeing the Kingdom of God come.
3 songs related to this theme:
Thank you for the kingdom call & responsibilities You have assigned to me,
Thank you that each & every day You provide for, pardon & protect me as Your beloved child.
Jesus thank you for the model prayer You have taught us.
Holy Spirit lead me & guide me to keep seeking Jesus & His kingdom through prayer,
Stir my passion & move me through prayer to practical action.
This I ask in, & through, Your mighty Name.
