Three Key Kingdom Dynamics

Jesus’ incarnation, death, resurrection & ascension all contributed to the Kingdom of God coming.
Through Him we have experienced:

  1. an exodus from oppression & a return from exile (the freedom from death & forgiveness of sins)
  2. the defeat of evil (the war against evil & Satan being cast down)
  3. the return of YHWH (Jehovah) to Zion (God dwelling in the midst of his people)

The Kingdom of God is expressed on this earth in many ways.
Throughout Jesus’ ministry we see salvation, healing & deliverance as the Kingdom of God breaks in with power.
That ministry now continues through His people as they move & flow in the power of the Spirit (Mark 16:16-20).
The justice, joy & peace (Romans 14:17) of the Kingdom now breaks in through you & through me.

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6: 31-34

As the Lord’s people we have an important role to play to see God’s kingdom come in our day.
Each of us has been given a general (corporate) kingdom assignment:

  1. We are to seek the Kingdom as a first priority in our lives (Matthew 6:33).
  2. We are to pray for it to come DAILY (Matthew 6:10).
  3. We are to be those that persistently pursue it & battle (spiritually) to see it come (Matthew 11:12).

Individually the Lord will also give us unique & bespoke roles & responsibilities to see the kingdom come in us & through us.
For us the people of God the 3 key kingdom dynamics are Passion, Prayer & Practical Action.
Today a little on passion.

Declaring & demonstrating the Kingdom of God is to be one of the chief priorities of our lives.
We get first things in this life by putting first things first.
As the people of God we are to have a passion for the King (Jesus) & His Kingdom.
We are to seek the Kingdom of God above all else.
Trusting our loving heavenly Father to supply our earthly needs we are to pursue God’s kingdom with passion.
Seeking for & seeing heaven break in upon this earth (Matthew 6:10).

Without exception the people of God have been given Kingdom responsibilities.
Those responsibilities flow out of our relationship with Father, Son & Spirit.
It starts with passion. Passion for Jesus, passion for the kingdom & passion for the least & lost.
That passion then expresses itself through persistent prayer & in turn moves into practical action.
Jesus ministering through us in the power of the Spirit.
Lord stir our hearts to deeper desire & passion for You & Your Kingdom.

For Reflection

  • How fervent is my a passion for Jesus & His kingdom?
  • Am I truly trusting the Father to supply all my earthly needs?
  • Meditate upon how the Lord continues to minister through His people to bring His Kingdom to this earth.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the kingdom call You have assigned to me,
Thank you that you supply all my earthly needs.
Jesus thank you that continuing you kingdom mission in me & through me.
Holy Spirit lead me & guide me to keep seeking Jesus & His kingdom with passion,
And help & strengthen me to fully play my part declaring & demonstrating the Kingdom now.
This I ask in, & through, Your mighty Name.
