The Lord desires wholehearted devotion from His people.
The Word of god exhorts us to wholeheartedly Love the Lord, Trust the Lord, Obey the Lord, Praise the Lord & Work for the Lord.
We have thought about wholeheartedly loving, trusting & obeying the Lord.
Today we will explore what it means to wholeheartedly Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!
I will praise the Lord with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. Psalm 111:1
I will praise You with my whole heart;
Before the gods I will sing praises to You.
I will worship toward Your holy temple,
And praise Your name
For Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul. Psalm 138:1-3
Once again, we find in Scripture an activity to engage in with all our hearts.
This time we are to praise the Lord with all our heart & all we have.
We praise in private & we praise in public (in the congregation).
We praise with body, soul, & spirit – the whole of our being.
Praise requires movement. Praise needs to move us in our bodies, souls & spirit’s.
Movement toward God in our beings & movement from God to others in our lives.
We will think more about wholehearted worship next time.
Wholehearted praise is the expression & emptying of our hearts in exultant adoration & devotion of the Lord.
We glorify the Lord with all our being. In that moment I focus on giving unto the Lord my all.
The audience of one is all that counts & it doesn’t matter what anyone else is thinking.
It requires effort, emotion & energy. Again, it is a gift we bring that blesses the Father’s heart & brings Him pleasure.
Again, in this endeavour of praise unto the Lord, our hearts are to take the lead.
There are inherent rewards & blessings to lifting our praises unto the Lord.
The presence of God magnifies, the spiritual atmosphere changes & we draw closer & deeper into intimacy with the Lord.
Wonderfully as we give unto the Lord we draw strength from Him.
The great giver gives unto us out of the abundance of His grace & love – the overflow of His heart for us!!
Praising the Lord, revives us & it refreshes us. So good!!
That is why it is such an important daily spiritual discipline.
Give unto the Lord you mighty ones, give unto the Lord glory, strength & praise (Psalm 29:1).
Praise the Lord with all your hearts.
- In what ways am I praising the Lord in private & in public?
- Where are things moving & changing in relation to praising God?
- Meditate upon what it means to wholeheartedly praise the Lord.
A song related to this theme:
Thank you that You alone are worthy of my praise & adoration.
Lord may my praises flow freely & fully to bless & exult your Holy Name.
Keep me daily praising You.
In Jesus mighty Name.
