The Lord desires wholehearted devotion sons, saints, servants, slaves & soldiers.
That means me & you & the Scriptures exhort us to wholeheartedly Love the Lord, Trust the Lord, Obey the Lord, Praise the Lord & Work for the Lord.
We have thought about wholeheartedly loving & trusting the Lord.
Today we will explore what it means to wholeheartedly Obey the Lord.
The Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body,
in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your land for good.
For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers,
if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 30:9-10
Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law;
Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Psalm 119:34
It is important that we hear, heed & obey the written (scripture) & spoken (prophetic) words of the Lord.
We need a hearing ear & a willing heart to respond rightly to the Lord’s commands & instructions.
The bible makes clear that obedience is better than sacrifice.
There are also blessings that follow obedience (Joshua 1:8; Luke 11:28; John 14:21).
We live successfully & productively for God when we obey His word & wholly follow His ways.
Obedience is one of the gifts we bring unto the Lord to delight His heart.
It is also one of the ways that we press into & lay hold of our inheritance in the Lord.
Obedience is therefore a gift unto the Lord that gives unto us at the same time. How cool is that!!!
Even when we don’t understand everything our obedience is crucial (e.g. Noah, Joseph, Mary).
Obedience requires our faith & trust more than our full & complete understanding.
Again our hearts are to lead & guide us rather than our heads.
The Lord’s commands & instructions are designed to lead us into the very best in life.
He is ever working for what is best for His beloved children.
When we hear, heed & obey the Lord we are walking & acting wisely.
We are building on the sure & solid foundation that provides everlasting security (Luke 6:46-49).
Let us keep building upon the solid rock that is Christ. Trust & obey for there is no better way..
- In what ways am I being asked to obey the Lord right now?
- Am I disciplined, diligent & attentive to the details in my obedience to the Lord?
- Meditate upon what it means to wholly obey the Lord.
A song related to this theme:
Thank you for Your great love of me & that You are ever wording for what is best for me.
Jesus thank you that You are my solid rock & sure foundation.
Holy Spirit give me a hearing ear & willing heart,
Teach & train me to obey the Lord readily, rightly & wholly.
In Jesus mighty Name.
