Ministry Matters

Ministry matters. It is one of the ways we serve the Lord & others.
All ministry is to be characterised by serving & a serving heart. That is the hallmark.
We should aim for excellence in all things & serve with humble hearts just like Jesus (Philippians 2:5-11).
We are thinking around an ABCD of ministry matters. We will start with the A.
We have been anointed by the Anointed One & walk in His authority.
Today we will consider what it means to be both anointed & authorised by Jesus our Lord & Master.

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Each & every one of us is gifted by God through His great grace & we are to use those gifts to serve.
We are to be good & wise stewards of the gifts entrusted to us by the Lord.
To minister is to serve & we are to steward what, when, where & how we serve!!!
We serve & use our gits in service with the strength & ability that God supplies.
Our aim being to bring honour & glory to the Lord through our ministry & mission.
In carrying out that service you are both anointed & authorised by the Lord.

Whom he appoints He anoints & to whom He gives the assignment He gives the authority.
You are anointed by Christ the Anointed One (1 Corinthians 1:21). Clothed with & carrying His anointing (Galatians 3:27).
The anointing that breaks the yoke & brings Kingdom blessing (Luke 4:16-21).
Jesus living in us, & working through us, by His Spirit.
For every task the Lord gives you you have the necessary anointing ‘In Christ’.
He supplies both the ability & strength you will need. Whom he equips He empowers!

Jesus is the one who carries all authority in heaven & upon the earth (Matthew 28:16-20).
He has bestowed this authority upon, & unto, His disciples (Luke 9:1-6, 10:1&19).
He did it in His day upon the earth & He continues to do it in our day.
You are authorised to speak & act ‘in Jesus Name’. Jesus shares His authority with His people.
For every assignment the Lord gives you He also gives you the authority you need to complete the task.
We are His authorised ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20) & kingdom agents for change upon this earth. SELAH

We are anointed with the same anointing as Jesus & we are authorised in & through His mighty Name.
It is Jesus’ anointing & Jesus’ authority & we both walk & work through obedience only.
Doing & saying only what He tells us to do (John 5:19-20). Carrying out His instructions & orders.
That is the model of Christ & it needs to be our model to.
His will & way rather than ours. In this way all the glory goes to God alone.
We therefore need to think, speak & act in line with this. Living in the truth of who Christ is & who we are in Him.
Signs & wonders, flowing from His anointing & authority, will follow those who truly believe (Mark 16:17 & 20). Hallelujah!!
Live, walk & keep on believing & acting as an anointed & authorised ambassador for Christ.

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I exhibiting Jesus’ anointing & authority?
  • Am I fully using my God given gifts, abilities & talents to serve the Lord & others?
  • Meditate upon how & why we are anointed & authorised ‘In Christ’.

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the unique & bespoke gifts & talents You have grace me with,
Help me to use them effectively, & excellently, to serve You & others.
Jesus thank you that You are the Anointed & Authorised One,
And that you share that anointing & authority with Your people.
Holy Spirit help me to faithfully walk in obedience to You,
Hearing, heeding & carrying out every kingdom task you send my way,
Keep me humble in my ministry & mission so that all the glory goes to God.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
Amen
