The Beauty & Blessing of Place
Jesus has prepared a place for us (John 14:1-3) & calls us to the secret place Matthew 6:6).
We are invited to find sanctuary & safety in the hiding place that is the Lord’s royal tabernacle (Psalm 27:5, 32:7).
The Lord dwells in our hearts & at the same time we are being built up as a dwelling place for the Lord in the Spirit (Ephesians 2:22).
Another beautiful & blessed place the Lord provides for us is the SPACIOUS Place.
This spacious, broad, large, free space & place will be our focus for today.
He also brought me out into a broad place;
He delivered me because He delighted in me.
You enlarged my path under me,
So my feet did not slip. Psalm 18:19 & 36
The Lord is our deliverer & rescuer. The One who can bring us into spacious & fruitful places.
David & the writers of the Psalms knew this well. It was also the experience of other heroes of the faith.
The Lord delivers us because He delights in us (2 Samuel 22:20). How wonderful is that. SELAH
The Hebrew word for spacious RAVACH also means to be revived & refreshed.
As we look to & trust in Him The Lord delivers us from our difficulties & troubles.
As he does so He brings refreshment to our hearts & revives us spiritually. So, so good.
Life is a constant mix of blessings & battles with both occurring simultaneously.
This means that there are things that we need to contend for through perseverance & spiritual warfare.
We need to contend until the Lord brings us into a spacious place & makes room for us.
This was exactly Isaac’s experience (Genesis 26:22) & it will be ours too – though in differing ways.
In the spacious place there is fruitfulness. Keep contending for your Rehoboth!
It requires resilience & continual reliance upon the Lord.
Once again this is a beautiful picture of how the Lord lifts us up & sets our feet upon solid & spacious ground.
We find that spacious & broad place ‘In Christ’ the rock of our salvation. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).
Our heavenly Father delights in us. We are the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8; Zechariah 2:8).
He therefore zealously watches over us & protects us from the enemy.
O how blessed we are as beloved children of God for ‘In Christ’ we stand in a solid, safe, secure, spacious place.
- In what ways has my heart been refreshed & my spirit revived by the Lord recently?
- Do I truly know that the Lord delights in me? In what ways do I experience His pleasure?
- Meditate upon the Lord bringing us into spacious places.
A song related to this theme:
Thank you that You delight in me Your beloved child,
That I am the apple of your eye whom You zealously watch over.
Jesus thank that You set me in a safe & spacious place,
That in You I am fully & truly free.
Holy Spirit keep me looking unto the Lord in all circumstances,
Trusting in the One who refreshes my heart & revives my spirit.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
