Our Saviour and Lord

The saving power of the Lord is sought & acknowledged in Psalm 20.
That mighty saving power comes from God to the king (David) & the nation.
God our saviour who is our defender, deliverer, protector, help, support & strength.
The one in whom we are fully accepted & find our success.
Today we will look at how the Lord brings & grants success to us.

May He grant you according to your heart’s desire,
And fulfil all your purpose.
We will rejoice in your salvation,
And in the name of our God we will set up our banners!
May the Lord fulfil all your petitions. Psalm 20:4-5

King David & Israel were looking unto the Lord for success.
They desired to triumph over their enemies in any battles but knew they needed the Lord to succeed.
They anticipated the Lord’s salvation through His actions on their behalf – defending, delivering & rescuing them.
As their hearts turned to & looked unto the Lord He granted their desire.
The salvation & saving power of their God for individuals & the nation.
Their prayers were for the Lord’s blessing & salvation. They entrusted themselves unto the Lord.
Note how their plans were subject to their prayers. Prayer shaped their plans.
Without prayer they went nowhere but prayer shaped their actions & responses too!!
Those prayers & petitions were answered time & again by the desire of their hearts – the Lord.

God created each one of us with huge potential & that potential is linked to our purpose.
He is the one who can enable & empower us to be all He created us to be.
What the Lord forms in time He fills!! Think over the creation story in Genesis 1 & 2.
The same is true for us. What God has formed in us He will fill through the power of the Spirit.
The Lord desires that we be successful, rise up to our potential & fulfil our purpose.
Godly prosperity is living successfully for God. Living in God’s world, God’s way rather than our way!!
This means we need to align our hearts with His great heart. First things first!!
Delighting ourselves in the Lord (Psalm 37:4) so that we might truly enjoy the desire of our hearts. SELAH.

Christ is our mighty champion & Saviour. The desire of our hearts.
He is the desire of not only our hearts but the nations too (Haggai 2:7)!!
‘In Christ’ we find the strength & resources to fulfil our earthly purpose & eternal destiny – Hallelujah!!
His sacrifice was our victory & in Him we find our success.
Through Christ & the Spirit we prosper (succeed) in all things (3 John 1:2).
Our success & prosperity is in the saviour Jesus Christ.
Align your heart to His & delight yourself in the Lord.

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I delighting myself in the Lord?
  • Do my prayers & petitions truly shape my response to situations & any actions I might take?
  • Meditate upon how Jesus is the desire of our hearts.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that my success in life comes from You,
That my purpose is fulfilled ‘In Christ’.
Jesus thank you that You are my saviour & mighty champion,
That you have made a way for me to live in godly success & to fulfil my purpose.
Holy Spirit keep me trusting the Lord in every battle,
Lifting my prayers & petitions & committing my plans fully unto You.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
