Strength for the Battle

We find ourselves in the midst of an age-old spiritual battle.
God & good will prevail over Satan & evil because of the decisive victory of Christ upon Calvary.
Live is therefore a mix of battles & blessings. They run on parallel tracks.
Man himself is also a battlefield. The flesh & the spirit warring against one another (Romans 7:22-23; 1 Peter 2:10-12).
Take heart that the battle belongs to the Lord (1 Samuel 17:47; I Corinthians 15:57).
He is the one we can forever draw strength from. Jesus our great & mighty King & champion.

For You have armed me with strength for the battle;
You have subdued under me those who rose against me. 2 Samuel 22:40

For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, And for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. Isaiah 28:6

God arms us with strength for the battle. He is the One we must look to at all times.
The battle belongs to Him & the victory is in & through our saviour the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is the one who subdues those who set themselves against His purposes & plans in our lives.
In, & through Christ, we are overcomers & more than conquerors (Romans 8:37-39).
Soldiers in the army of the Lord who are thoroughly equipped & well-resourced.
Strength is ever at hand for He who is our mighty strength (Exodus 15:2; Psalm 46:1; Isaiah 41:10).

Alongside armour & weaponry in any battle or military campaign tactics & strategy are important.
There are various resources the Lord has committed unto us to give strength in the battle:

  • Identity ‘In Christ’
  • Infilling of the Spirit
  • Intercession & Prayer
  • Praise & worship
  • Power of Communion
  • Testimony (share your story)

We will explore these in turn & in more depth over the coming days.
We have been given these 3 I’s, 3 P’s & 1 T (above) & more besides.
Even in our weaknesses & vulnerabilities the Lord is our mighty strength (2 Corinthians 12:9).
His grace is ever sufficient & more than enough. He is ever with us & ever for us (Romans 8:31; Hebrews 13:5).
Providing the strength we need in any & every situation & circumstance.
The Lord is the strength of our lives (Psalm 27:1) & our strength in the battle. Hallelujah!!!

For Reflection

  • How passionate am I for the Lord & His people?
  • In what ways has God specifically armed & strengthened you for battle?
  • Meditate upon the strength we draw from God in the spiritual battle.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that You are the strength of my life,
That You are ever with me & ever for me.
Jesus thank you that in, & through, You is the victory of God,
That You have triumphed over sin, death & evil through Your death & resurrection.
Holy Spirit keep me drawing near to God & resisting the enemy,
Through the strength & resources that are ever available in You.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
