Strength for the Battle

In concluding this series let us remember that we have been armed with strength for every battle.
The battle belongs to the Lord & He abundantly resources us for the fight.
Because He is for us nothing, & no one, can stand against us (Romans 8:31-32).
Through Him we are overcomers & more than conquerors in this life (Romans 8:37-39).
The Lord is my strength & your strength, OUR strength, in the battle.

It is God who arms me with strength,
And makes my way perfect. Psalm 18:32

O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation,
You have covered my head in the day of battle. Psalm 140:7

These 2 verses from the Psalms remind us once again how the Lord Is our strength.
God arms us with strength & He is the strength of our salvation (rescue & deliverance).
We are covered (protected – shielded) in the midst of any fight & every battle. (nb: link to helmet of
The fact we are saved is the major source of our strength & Jesus is that saviour.
Jesus the saviour & the victory of God. Thank you, Lord.

These are the wonderful & abundant resources the Lord has committed unto us to give strength in the battle:

  • Identity ‘In Christ’ alongside intimacy with Him
  • Infilling of the Spirit
  • Intercession & Prayer
  • Praise & worship
  • Power of Communion
  • Testimony (share your story)

The victory is in Jesus who gives strength to His people to overcome.
The One who makes us more than conquerors in the battle against the world, the flesh & the devil.

The Lord appoints us as soldiers in His army (2 Timothy 2:3-4).
He gives us every tool we might need alongside the teaching & training (Psalm 144:1) to use them effectively.
Whom the Lord appoints He anoints & authorises too. We are also equipped & empowered through the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).
Alongside this the Lord’s grace is always more than enough (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Keep looking to the Lord & utilising every resource He has provided as you fight the good fight.
The battle belongs to the Lord & the victory is in Jesus who is our strength & shield. Hallelujah!!

For Reflection

  • Where am I drawing strength & where am I seeing victory in my spiritual life right now?
  • What are the tools & tactics you are using most in the battle?
  • Meditate upon the Lord our strength, shield & salvation in the battle.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that You my strength & shield in the battle of life,
And that the battle belongs to You O Lord.
Jesus thank you for the great victory You have won for Your people,
That You are the eternal victory of God.
Holy Spirit keep me standing & fighting on holy ground,
Anointed, authorised, equipped & empowered in the strength You abundantly provide.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
