The Hope of Glory
The glorious hope we have ‘In Christ’ unites us as the people of God.
That is a wonderful benefit of the saving work of Christ.
We are one with Father, Son & Spirit & one with one another as the people of God.
Together UNITED as the family & people of God. This will be our focus for today.
endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all,
and through all, and in you all. Ephesians 4:3-6
The hope we have in Christ is glorious, preparing us for our divine destiny.
Within this hope we are called to guard the sweet harmony of the Holy Spirit amongst us.
We belong to the Lord & we belong to one another as His family.
Together united through one Lord & Father, one faith, one hope & one baptism, in one body by the one Spirit.
WE is greater & more necessary than me – every time!! SELAH.
Our great hope ’In Christ’ is to share His glory at the end of this age & in God’s glorious New Creation (1 John 3:2).
We are called to that hope through the guarantee of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:18, 2:2).
Alongside this the hope we are called to carries a hope that belongs to the call itself.
It is that within this hope we are to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
We are to make every effort to live in harmony & at one with our fellow believers; our brethren ‘In Christ’.
Unity is a given through Christ (Ephesians 2:13-18) & it is to be received & maintained rather than made. SELAH
Unity & the harmony of the Spirit already exist within our great hope & they do not need to be engineered!!!
Our great & glorious hope revolves & centres around Christ, our saviour. We are united in Christ.
We are called to that hope & that hope itself calls us to unity. To live in peace with the Lord & His people.
Our hope in the Lord keeps us connected with Him & His people.
United, staying together as one, where there is mighty blessing poured out (Psalm 133).
- How close to God & His people do I feel right now?
- Am I working for unity in my own church & within the Church in the town/city where I live?
- Meditate upon how our hope ‘In Christ’ calls us to unity with God’s people.
A song related to this theme:
Heavenly Father, God of hope,
Thank you for the family & body You have called me to,
That I belong to You & that I belong to my brothers & sisters ‘In Christ’.
Jesus thank you that You are my great hope,
That one day I will be just like You; resurrected in glory.
Holy Spirit, great guarantor of my hope, keep me living in harmony with You,
And maintaining the bond of peace with my fellow family members,
Help me to keep honouring the Lord & ALL His people.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
