The great & glorious hope we have ‘In Christ’ anchors us in our faith (Hebrews 6:19).
It is something that we need to stay connected & close to.
Not moving away but staying strong & steadfast.
Faith & perseverance enable us to do that. This will be our focus for today.

if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. Colossians 1:23

The gospel of Christ’s saving power gives, & fills, us with hope.
The hope of glory. Christ in our hearts now & us appearing in glory in God’s New Creation.
We are not to move away (shift or be shaken from) the hope the gospel holds out to us.
We are to stand firm, grounded & steadfast, continuing to exercise & grow in faith.
Hope is to be held onto by faith & that forms a firm foundation for our spiritual lives.

Faith & hope are great companions, bosom buddies, in our spiritual lives.
Together with love they form one of the great trilogies in scripture (1 Corinthians 13:3; 1 Thessalonians 1:3, 5:8).
Our hope ’In Christ’ is to held firm until it is fully realised when Christ returns.
Christian hope therefore has a past, a present & a future. We received the gospel in hope – our past hope.
We stand firm by faith in the hope we have ‘In Christ’ – our present hope.
Our hope will be fulfilled when Jesus returns to bring in the fulness of God’s New Creation – our future hope.

We journey through this live holding firm the hope we have in Jesus.
Not allowing ourselves to be swayed, shaken or shifted away from that hope.
Faith holds us firm as we persevere & endure in hope.
Tomorrow we will see how we must endure in hope until the end.
Stand strong, stay focussed & keep holding firm in faith & hope. Hallelujah!!

For Reflection

  • How am I staying focussed & holding firm to my hope ‘In Christ’?
  • In what ways is my faith growing in this season of my spiritual life?
  • Meditate upon how we are exhorted to stay strong in our hope.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father, God of hope,
Thank you for the hope of the Gospel,
That ‘In Christ’ I have an everlasting hope of glory.
Jesus thank you that You are my great hope,
That one day you will return to bring the fulness of God’s New Creation.
Holy Spirit keep me focussed & standing firm in faith,
Not shifting, being shaken or swaying away from the great hope I have in Jesus.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
