Sowing and Reaping

Life for humanity began in a garden (Genesis 1-3). Life for humans remains a little bit like a garden – we reap what we sow.
God has built this principle of sowing & reaping into this world. It cannot be avoided or bypassed!!
It is therefore important we understand it & utilise it to our, & other’s, benefit.
“Sow a thought, and you reap an act; Sow an act, and you reap a habit; Sow a habit and you reap a character; Sow a character, and you reap a destiny.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Biblical encouragement is for us to sow to the Spirit, rather than the flesh (Galatians 6:8).
Sowing to the Spirit (walking in obedience to Him) will reap everlasting life along with the fruit of righteousness.
That will be our focus for today.

Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:18

You have to sow to reap. What you sow will produce a like harvest. Apples don’t produce pears!
Sow to the Spirit & you will reap His fruit. Sow in peace & reap more peace.
When we live in harmony with the Holy Spirit we will produce His fruit (Galatians 5:22-23).
The fruit of righteousness to bless us & others – blessed to be a blessing.
“You reap what you sow — not something else, but that. An act of love makes the soul more loving.
A deed of humbleness deepens humbleness. The thing reaped is the very thing sown, multiplied a hundred fold. You have sown a seed of life, you reap everlasting.” – Frederick William Robertson

When we sow to the Spirit, & when we sow generously, we will reap a rich harvest of the fruit of righteousness.

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 2 Corinthians 9:10

God who is ever generous supplies seed to the sower & also multiplies what we are prepared to sow.
He supplies, sustains & supernaturally strengthens & multiples what we sow. How good is that!!! SELAH
If we will sow faithfully then the Lord will bring ample & abundant fruitfulness & harvest.
The Lord does this to enrich us so that we can always be generous & give with liberality.
If we will give then God through his grace will multiply the gift, increasing the fruit of our righteousness.
Whereas, if we hold onto things then they in time either diminish or fade.
We are to sow, plant & water but God alone can, & will, cause the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).
Let us be faithful to keep sowing to the things of God & generously sharing every kingdom blessing with others.

Sowing & reaping is cause & effect. We need to understand everything carries consequences.
“Shallow men believe in luck or in circumstance. Strong men believe in cause and effect.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.
We truly please & bless our Heavenly Father when we sow to the Spirit & when we sow generously.
Sowing in that way brings supernatural increase & multiplication. It increases the yield dramatically – 30, 60 or 100 fold!!
We will think more on that tomorrow in concluding this TFD series.

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I sowing to the Spirit? How closely am I matching His steps in the dance?
  • What is are my thoughts, acts, habits & character revealing about me?
  • Meditate upon the way the Lord can supernaturally increase& multiply our sowing.

Thank you for Your incredible promises & indescribable power
That Your grace supplies & sustains & Your mighty power increase & multiples.
Jesus thank you that through Your great love & grace You lift us & elevate our lives,
That Your love, light & life supernaturally increase & multiple the impact & influence of our lives upon others.
Holy Spirit keep me in close harmony with You, producing Your fruit of righteousness,
