Our God & Heavenly Father is forever perfect in faithfulness.
Faithfulness for us however is something that grows & develops as we mature in Christlike character.
It is the fruit of the Spirit & that growth & development comes as we develop deeper relationship with Him.
We start small & grow & increase from there. Faithfulness in the little things matters & leads to promotion.
This will be focus for today.
Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’
And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’
And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’
Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’ Luke 19:16-19
This scripture is from one of Jesus’ kingdom parables.
Jesus is teaching his disciples to steward the things entrusted to them by God in line with the nature & character of God.
Don’t question the reasons for the task but trust the nature of the giver!!
They are to steward & serve with their gifts, talents, ability, time, wealth & possessions. Basically, all they are & all they have!!
Note how the master is looking for a return on His investment. SELAH
We must steward responsibly & we must steward in a way that promotes kingdom growth & increase.
Faithfulness in the small things leads to promotion & greater responsibilities.
God highly values faithfulness. So much so that He readily rewards it.
Note how it is faithfulness in the small things that leads to the increase & then promotion.
It always works that way round. Start small & faithfully work from there.
If you are faithful with the least of things, you will be faithful with more (Luke 16:10).
That is the kingdom dynamic in action (Matthew 13:31-32). Small is large & slow is fast!!
Taking care of the minute small things matters & makes all the difference.
That requires a number of things – discipline, diligence, determination & attention to detail.
Pay attention to those things & you will grow in faithfulness & also excel in stewardship.
God looks for faithfulness in our lives & service for Him (Luke 12:42-43).
So much so that He keeps giving us opportunities to grow & develop in faithfulness.
Those who have walked & grown in faithfulness will be justly rewarded.
Those who have persevered in faithfulness will be filled with joy. More on that tomorrow.
Keep trusting the faithfulness of the Lord & keep serving faithfully. AMEN.
- In what ways am I making kingdom investments?
- What gifts, talents & abilities have I been given to be faithful with?
- Meditate upon faithfulness in the small & often (seemingly) insignificant things.
A song related to this theme:
Thank you that You are a generous giver & a just rewarder,
Thank you for all You have richly invested in me.
Jesus thank you that You highly value faithfulness & taught on it repeatedly,
Keep me following & walking in your ways.
Holy Spirit keep me faithful in the small & little things of life,
Help me to invest that which You have entrusted to me for Kingdom growth & increase.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
