Christian Relationships

Paul’s letter to the Philippians highlights 5 dynamics of Christian relationships.
Not only is Paul’s brother he is also his fellow worker. Toiling together as a team.
Epaphroditus is a companion, a co-worker & a comrade in the work of the gospel & kingdom.
Fellow workers with God & one another will be our focus today.

Meanwhile, I thought I should send Epaphroditus back to you.
He is a true brother, co-worker, and fellow soldier.
And he was your messenger to help me in my need. Philippians 2:25 New Living Translation

It is important that we not only worship together but that we work & witness together in the kingdom of God.
Hard work is a kingdom value & dynamic. Paul was not afraid of it & worked harder than others (1 Corinthians 15:10; 2 Corinthians 11:23)!!
They are fellow workers in the Lord’s service (1 Corinthians 3:9). Working for the Lord alongside one another.
We are stronger & more effective when we join forces & work TOGETHER.

Paul & Epaphroditus shared spiritual life together as siblings in the Lord.
They also toiled together in the labours of the gospel. Partners with one another as they partnered with
the Lord.
They provided mutual support & encouragement for each other. Hard at work in the Lord’s harvest.
Their differing temperaments, personalities & gifts combining to strengthen & enhance the work.
Paul greatly valued the ‘effect & impact’ that his fellow & co-worker made. SELAH

Through their partnership Paul & Epaphroditus furthered the missionary work Paul had started.
Epaphroditus was one of many who spent a season as one of Paul’s co-workers in the gospel.
They served the mission of God, served those they encountered & they served one another.
That is what we do as siblings & fellow workers in the Kingdom of God.
We are called a partners & co-workers in Christ’s service. Hallelujah!!
Give thanks for those you have served & worked alongside in the Lord’s service.
Encourage your current fellow workers today.

For Reflection

  • Who has been a valued co-worker alongside me in the Lord’s service?
  • What ‘effect & impact’ have I brought to any missionary teams or endeavours I have been a part of?
  • Meditate upon what it means to be co-workers with one another & the Lord.

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that You call me to partner with & work with You,
Give me strength & perseverance to stay faithful in Your service.
Jesus enable me to look to You & to look up & see the harvest,
Lead me to serve alongside those You have called me to partner with in this season.
Holy Spirit give me grace to always value, support & encourage my fellow kingdom workers,
Give me passion, patience & perseverance in the labours of the gospel.
This I ask in Jesus mighty Name.
Amen
