The Testimony of Jesus

John talks about the tribulation, kingdom & patience of Jesus Christ in his revelation of Jesus Christ.
We have noted how each & every believer will face tribulation of some sort in this life.
The good news is that we overcome through Christ who is our victory. John also references the kingdom of Jesus Christ. That will be our focus for today.

I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God’s Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and for my testimony about Jesus. Revelation 1:9 NLT

The Kingdom of God was launched through the life, death & resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus came preaching the Kingdom (Mark 1:15) & the apostles continued to do so after His ascension.
John had been exiled in an attempt to stop him seeking & bringing the Kingdom of God upon the earth.
We are to seek it first above all else (Matthew 6:33). First things first!! SELAH
Jesus is the Lord of an everlasting & ever-increasing Kingdom (Isaiah 9:7).
It is the rule & reign of God upon the earth. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done (Matthew 6:10).

The Kingdom of God is laid hold of by forceful men & women (Matthew 12:11).
They proclaim it, pray for it & practice (demonstrate) it – words, works & wonders.
It currently encompasses suffering but when its fullness comes (with the return of Christ) all sorrow will be gone (Revelation 21:4).
Believers reign with Christ in this life (Romans 5:17) & they will also reign with him in the age to come (Daniel 7:18 & 27; Revelation 22:5).
What a wonderful privilege & responsibility we have as God’s children.

In & through Jesus, the King, & His Kingdom God is making all things new (Revelation 21:5).
The Kingdom of God is salvation, healing & deliverance. Glorious, good news for people & places.
It is justice, joy & peace in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). So, so good.
‘In Christ’ you & I get to experience it & make Christ & His Kingdom known to others.
We are a kingdom people serving a glorious King. Hallelujah!!!
We rule & reign with the King of Kings & Lord of Lords!!! SELAH

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I seeking first the Kingdom of God?
  • How confident am I of making Jesus known & declaring & demonstrating His Kingdom?
  • Meditate upon the words, works & wonders of the Kingdom of God.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that You are making all things new in & through your Son & my Saviour Jesus Christ,
That we are ever moving toward the great & glorious day when heaven & earth re-unite.
Jesus thank you that brought the Kingdom of God with power,
And that You will return to bring it in all its fullness.
Holy Spirit give me confidence, courage & daily strength,
To make Christ & His kingdom known through words, works & wonders.
This I ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
