The wonder of the Word

Over the last 2 weeks we have seen some of the impact & benefits of the word of God.
It is the source & substance of a blessed & prosperous life (Psalm 1:1-3).
It is the strength & security of a life that will endure all that this life & the world might throw at us (Matthew 7:24-27).
There are other blessings & benefits that stem from, & flow from, the Word Of God.
That will be our focus for this TFD series.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 NKJV

There is power & authority in the Word of God. It is no ordinary book but living & active!!
It therefore carries divine power to change & transform your life.
We must therefore make sure that we are regularly engaging with it – ideally daily.
Reading it, meditating upon it, studying it & memorizing it. Making it a part of who we are.
Encountering the living Word, Christ, within the written word, Scripture, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
In this way we are changed from glory unto glory (2 Corinthians 3:18) & conformed unto the likeness of Christ (Romans 8:29).
Believing upon the Bible & rightly applying it to your life will make you more & more like Jesus. SELAH

At the same time it is increasing Christlikeness in us God’s Word is also doing other things in us & for us.
It Sustains, Strengthens, Signposts, Succours & Saves us. How wonderful is that!!
We will explore more about each of these S’s over the coming days.
The benefits & blessings that spring forth from God’s word & freely flow to us are amazing.
Freely given to those that will faithfully engage. SELAH

The Word of God is also the chief revealer of the ways & will of God. It is the main way that He communicates with us.
That is why it is so vitally important to you & to me. We can’t live the Christian life effectively without it.
Wonderful things in the Bible I see, some put there by me & some put there by me!!
May we be those who seriously & intently undertake to seek out Christ in the Scriptures.
Allowing & asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate the Bible & reveal Jesus to us.
In that way it will truly transform us & make us more & more like Christ. Hallelujah!!

For Reflection

  • How regularly am I engaging with the Word of God?
  • In what ways am I seeking to make the Word of God a part of who I am?
  • Meditate upon the wonder & power contained within & revealed through the Word of God.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the wonder & power of Your Word,
And for all the blessings & benefits it brings to me.
Jesus thank you that You are the living word of God,
Reveal yourself to me through the written word in the power of Your Spirit.
Holy Spirit keep me engaging daily with the Word of God,
Seeking & finding Christ in all the Scriptures.
This I ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
