The Wonder of the Word

God’s word is alive & powerful & it Sustains, Strengthens, Signposts, Succours & Saves us
We saw yesterday how we are to be sustained & enabled to grow by feeding & feasting on the Word of God (1 Peter 2:2).
Without this spiritual nourishment we will become weak, malnourished & ineffective.
As food provides strength & energy for the body in similar manner the Word of God provides strength for our souls & spirits.
Today we will think upon how God’s Word strengthens & energizes us.

My soul melts from heaviness;
Strengthen me according to Your word. Psalm 119:28 NKJV

The troubles, tests & trials of life can sometimes get on top of us. This causes a heaviness of soul.
The Word of God is the antidote because of the strength & energy it brings.
It revives (Psalm 119:25), refreshes (Deuteronomy 32:2) & renews our mind (Romans 12:1-2).
It is a constant source of life & peace (Psalm 119:50). A spring & fountain of life.
Strengthening us & enabling us to think & act in a godly manner.
As our attitudes transform so do our actions. SELAH

God’s Word is a giver of life, building us up in the faith & also the lifter of our countenances.
It is health for our flesh & strength for our bones (Proverbs 4:20-22), an enhancer of our time & lives (Proverbs 3:1-2).
Through them we are strengthened & also find peace amid the hardships & difficulties we will face in life.
A great source of help & strength to those who will pay attention. SELAH!

We must therefore be those who pay attention, listen intently & allow the word of God to penetrate deeply into us.
As ever it is our hearts that need to yield & surrender. Submitting fully unto the Word of God.
Allowing the seed of God’s word to root in good fertile soil. A healthy yield of fruit will surely follow (30, 60 or 100 fold).
As we do so healing, strength & life will flow to us abundantly. How wonderful is that.
The benefits & blessing of the Word of God are just too good for us to ignore them.
Let us be daily engaging so that we are encountering Christ the Living Word of God. Hallelujah!!

For Reflection

  • How tender, soft & receptive is my heart to the Word of God?
  • In what ways am I paying attention & listening carefully to God’s Word & words (prophetic)?
  • Meditate upon the source of strength that God’s Word is.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the life, healing & strength that flows freely from Your Word,
Reviving, refreshing & reviving me.
Jesus, Word of God, thank you that You will never ever fail me,
That in You is light, life, love, truth, peace & victory.
Holy Spirit keep me attentive & responsive to the Word & words of God,
May they find fertile & fruitful ground in the field of my heart.
This I ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
