The Wonder of God’s Word

God’s Word is dynamically at work to Sustain, Strengthen, Signpost, Succour & Save.
We saw yesterday how we are encouraged & edified through the Scriptures (Acts 20:32).
They are a reliable & constant source of Succour for the child of God (Romans 15:4).
The Word of God reveals God’s unfailing love to us & makes clear the way of salvation.
In this sense it saves (rescues) us & we will think more about this today.

and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:15 NKJV

Scripture is constantly revealing to us how much God loves us & how that love is unconditional.
That love is revealed to us most powerfully through Christ, God’s only begotten Son & our Saviour (John 3:16).
The Bible is God breathed & always pointing & signposting us to Jesus. It all makes sense in Him & through Him.
Therefore the Word of God is constantly leading us to Jesus the Saviour & revealing the way of salvation.
In that sense it comes to our rescue & contributes to save to. Making us wise unto salvation. SELAH

We are saved by grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-10). A precious, priceless gift from our loving heavenly Father.
The Word of God is good (the best) seed which when implanted in us produces salvation (James 1:21) – it saves us.
It produces new birth & a new life in us – the eternal life of God ‘In Christ’ (1 Peter 1:23).
At the same time, we are being saved & will be saved when Christ returns (1 Corinthians 1:18, Romans 5:9-10, 13:11).
The Word of God contributes to our salvation by sanctifying us in partnership with the Holy Spirit.
Scripture & Spirit making us more & more like Jesus every day. SELAH
We will think more about the sanctification process tomorrow.

God’s Word carries power & authority to save & transform human lives. This is the power of the gospel of Christ.
That is why it is so important that the Word of God is preached, proclaimed & pondered over.
How can they believe unless they have heard & how can they hear unless someone tells them (Romans 10:14-15)
That is why we are sent (Matthew 28-18-20) to GO & make disciples of all people & all nations.
Making known God’s Word so that people can come to know Jesus the Word & be saved. Hallelujah!!
May we be faithful worshippers & fruitful witnesses. To God be the Glory.

For Reflection

  • Where is God’s word challenging & changing me at this point in my life?
  • In what ways am I making Christ The Word known?
  • Meditate upon how the Word of God saves.

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the saving power of Your Word,
Both the written Word of Scripture & the Living Word Jesus.
Providing constant encouragement & edification for me.
Jesus thank you that in You I am saved, being saved & will be saved,
Thank You for the great sacrifice you made for my salvation.
Holy Spirit make me a faithful worshipper & fruitful witness,
Proclaiming Christ & His salvation via my life & lips.
This I ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen
