Revelation in the Holy Spirit

Christians have the Holy Spirit living within them. He lives & dwells within them (John 14:16-17; Romans 8:11).
He is their helper, comforter, guide, equipper & empowerer & the One who reveals the great truths of God to us.
The Spirit receives from the Father & Son to release revelation (make it known) to the child of God. SELAH
A beautiful transfer of divine truth, along with the unveiling of God’s purposes, from the Father, through the Son, via the Spirit.
Today as we conclude this TFD series we will think upon how the Holy Spirit brings that revelation to the believer.

But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 NKJV

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead (Trinity). He therefore has a unique personality.
He thinks, speaks, makes decisions & can be grieved (Acts 1:16, 15:26; 1 Corinthians 12:11; Ephesians 4:30).
As a person He is ever available to get to know. We therefore need to become more acquainted with his character, personality, voice & ways.
The believer’s relationship with the Holy Spirit therefore requires daily investment. It must be worked upon. SELAH
We have received Him (He lives in us) & we need to receive revelation from Him.

That revelation (disclosure of divine truth & purpose) is life & light for us. It energises, equips & empowers.
The Holy Spirit makes both the Father & the Son known to us in a deeper way & measure.
He also unlocks & illuminates (sheds light upon to bring understanding) Scripture for us.
He reveals Christ the Living Word through the written word. That is how we are to make sense of the Bible.
He does this through person-to-person communication & through developing deeper relationship with us.
It is therefore vital to keep cultivating a dynamic & developing relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Intimacy is the place of inspiration, illumination & revelation. SELAH

Spending time with & getting to know the Holy Spirit strengthens & sharpens our spiritual senses.
In this way we begin to see, hear, feel & discern what the Spirit is saying & doing both in our lives & in this world.
The revelation (release of divine truth & purpose) then begins to flow more freely.
The Holy Spirit releases revelation to me & I am to receive from Him. It is a partnership where He leads & I follow.
A two-way communication process empowered by relationship & cultivated by communion (time together).
If I am to receive I must have a desire, an appetite, an anticipation & an expectation on my part. SELAH
As we hunger & thirst for more of the Holy Spirit, & the revelation He brings, the Spirit will fill, satisfy & satiate. Hallelujah!!
COME, HOLY SPIRT – Open my eyes, ears & heart (spirit) to keep receiving from You!!

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I cultivating a deepening relationship with the holy spirit?
  • How strong is my desire & spiritual appetite for God right now?
  • Meditate upon how the Holy Spirit reveals the plans & purposes of the Lord through relationship (person-to-person).

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the revelation that You have prepared & freely release unto me through Your Spirit,
I’m so grateful that it is life & light drawing me ever deeper into Your love.
Jesus, thank you that You sent Your Spirit to live in me & transform me into Your likeness,
And that You keep pouring out Your Spirit upon me to fulfil Your purposes for my life.
Holy Spirit help me to get to know You more, to be highly sensitive to Your leading & guiding,
That I may lay hold of, & live fully in, all the revelation You long to grace & gift me with.
This I ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen
