Focus on the Lord

We have seen how Scripture exhorts us to fix & fasten our eyes, minds & hearts upon the Lord.
Today I want us to look at some of the benefit & reward of doing that.

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
4 Trust in the Lord forever,
For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength. Isaiah 26:3-4

The point this Scripture makes is for us to incline our minds upon the Lord.
Those who lean upon, rest, lie hard upon the Lord will find His perfect peace.
It is about committing our trust unto Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
Our minds must be set upon Him, consumed by Him, so that we can confidently trust Him.

As we incline & set our minds upon Him we are surrounded by His perfect peace.
The original language speaks of His constant shalom surrounding us.
Safety, soundness, well-being, health, prosperity, peace, tranquility & quiet.
Such a wonderful blessing.

As we look to & lean into Jesus he blesses us with his perfect & constant peace & shalom.
The God of peace (Romans 15:33), Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) & Spirit of peace (Romans 14:17; Galatians 5:22) exuding & releasing peace to those who confidently trust in Him. He willingly & gladly gives us His peace (Numbers 25:11-13; John 14:27) – how could it be otherwise.
Peace amidst the storms of this life is found in the Lord (Mark 4:39).
Keep looking up intently & leaning in purposefully to lay hold of the Lord’s amazing shalom.
Shalom my friends, may you prosper in His peace.

For Reflection

  • What more can I do to ‘stay’ my mind on Jesus?
  • Where am I needing His peace & shalom right now?
  • Mediate upon Jesus the Prince of Peace.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Jesus, Prince of Peace,
Fill me with Your wonderful peace & shalom.
Through the power of Your indwelling Spirit,
Help me in every moment to fix & fasten my eyes, mind & heart on You.
In Your wonderful, beautiful, powerful name,
