Unto us a Son is Given

Mary was blessed because she believed the word of the Lord.
However, favour with God is no guarantee of popularity with people.
To avoid the disapproving glances & careless ‘whispers’ Mary sought solace with her relative Elizabeth.
She who had had her barrenness turned to fruitfulness.

Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,
and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary,
that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”
LUKE 1:39-45

Elizabeth demonstrates such a powerful sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.
Even a simple greeting producing a powerful move of the Spirit which Elizabeth swiftly sensed.
The presence of the Saviour making the babe in her womb leap for joy.
Jesus presence always makes things happen & He always brings joy.
He is a bearer & bringer of hope, joy, peace & ultimately LOVE.
In His presence there is fulness of Joy (Psalm 16:11). Joy is also apart of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22).

Elizabeth, full of the Spirit, then received prophetic insight & speaks forth the revelation that her Lord is present.
The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10).
Where Jesus is being made known & manifesting His presence prophecy will flow.
Joy will be manifested & released. Blessing will abound.

We all need to keep developing a deep sensitivity to the Holy Spirit & we all need to be ready & willing to prophecy.
We can all prophecy one by one (1 Corinthians 14:31).
Prophesying is simply hearing from God & speaking it out. All it takes is F.O.O.T.
Faith, Openness, Obedience & Trust.
Will we believe, & keep believing, until we see the fulfillment of the Word of the Lord.
If we will there is great blessing to be found.

For Reflection

  • How sensitive am I to the Holy Spirit?
  • How readily & freely do I flow in the prophetic?
  • Do I feel & experience His joy?
  • Mediate upon the joy that Jesus carries & brings.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the great gift of Christ our Saviour.
Touch us afresh with the power & presence of Your Spirit,
That we might receive & release Your prophetic word.
Give us the faith, openness, obedience & trust,
To see the fulfillment of your words & promises.
In the mighty name of Jesus,
Amen.
