Wars and Rumours of Wars

All of our minds & hearts will be caught up with prayer for the escalating conflict between Russia & Ukraine, especially since the invasion began.
History is littered with power crazed men wreaking havoc at the cost of many lives.
The evil intentions & machinations of men are nothing new under the sun.
In David’s day he was surrounded by people seeking violence & war.

Too long my soul has had its dwelling
With those who hate peace.
I am for peace, but when I speak,
They are for war. Psalm 120:6-7 NKJV

God is the God of peace & His kingdom is one of justice, joy & peace (Philippians 4:7; Romans 14:17).
We are a people who seek peace & work for peace as peacemakers (Matthew 5:9).
Like David in his day we must keep seeking & striving for peace in people & places.
Prayer is our great weapon (Ephesians 6:18-20). As the great preacher Spurgeon said;
”Prayer is the slender nerve that moves the muscle of omnipotence”.
The nation of Ukraine needs our fervent prayer right now.
The world is ever in need of our earnest unceasing prayer (James 5:16-18).

Our prayer & intercession must be focused on peace & justice.
Courage for those caught up in the midst of the conflict.
Pray that many lives will be spared & that the aggressors & agitators would back down & retreat.
Pray for a strong, stable & lasting peace to be established.
For light to pierce the darkness & the Kingdom to come breaking in in far greater measure.
Pray, pray, pray for a mighty move & miracle of God in our day.
Prayer changes things so let us pray.
We are not on the physical front-line but we can be active on the spiritual front-line.
The battleground of prevailing prayer.

Pete Grieg from 24/7 Prayer has written a great prayer:

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Lord Jesus,
Teach us to pray in this dark time in Europe.
May your Spirit groan through us in line with your will, word & ways.
Give us wisdom, insight & understanding in our intercessions.
This we ask in Your mighty, mighty Name.
Amen.
