The Breathtaking Beauty of Unity

The Godhead live eternally & are forever united in love.
They long for that love & unity to be the great distinctive characteristic of the family of God.
David knew how pleasant & precious it is to live in the unity that God supplies.
He celebrated the blessing of unity in one of his psalms – Psalm 133

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.
It is like the dew of Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the Lord commanded the blessing –
Life forevermore. Psalm 133

Unity is indeed a most precious & pleasant thing.
Brothers & sisters dwelling in harmonious & right relationships is a good, good thing.
It is resourcing, reviving & refreshing as it consecrates us in living as the people of God.
It’s like anointing oil (rich, highly fragrant & holy) flowing down the high Priest’s body – signifying the presence & power of God.
It refreshes & revives like a cool breeze on a stiflingly hot day.
Where such unity exists (& grows) the Lord commands & bestows a blessing.

Living in unity allows us to flow more freely in the anointing of God.
It’s fragrance permeates & is attractive to people. People are drawn to unity.
It is also a rich source of continuing refreshment & reviving for the people of God.
That is because of the commanded blessing that the Lord releases on unity.
LIFE FOREVERMORE.

That blessing is a rich & powerful perpetual blessing.
It brings the everlasting, eternal life of God Himself to His people.
Living in unity TOGETHER enhances & enriches our experience of, & encounter with, God.
The powerful life that flows, renews & revives from God is strengthened as we live in unity.
Behold, how good & how pleasant it is!!! Get in on it.

For Reflection

  • Where & how am I contributing to living & working together with God’s people?
  • How much of my life is about me & how much is about WE?
  • Meditate on the resource & refreshment that unity brings.

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the blessing that you have commanded on unity.
May that rich blessing flow more freely & more powerfully over us,
Through the power of Your Spirit teach us to dwell together in unity more & more,
That the blessing might grow & flow to many others.
This we ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen
