The Wonder of Joy

Joy, in all it’s fullness, flows endlessly & unceasingly from the presence of God (Psalm 16:11).
It is received by a heart united, & in constant communion, with Father, Son & Spirit.
The joy they abundantly release brings strength to our lives.
That is because the joy of the Lord is our strength.

And Nehemiah, who was the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn nor weep.” For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Law.
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
So the Levites quieted all the people, saying, “Be still, for the day is holy; do not be grieved.”
Nehemiah 8:9-11

God’s people, the children of Israel, rediscovered the Joy of the Lord as they were restored to relationship with God & as they realigned their lives with the word of God.
Revelation broke forth that God was with them, He loved them passionately & cared deeply for them.
It brought them to tears – tears of repentance & tears of joy & delight.
We are restored to relationship with God through our faith in the saving work of Christ.
We have the Scriptures & the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the Word of the Lord.
His love, comfort, encouragement & endearments to bring strength to ours lives.
The Lord & the joy He gives are ever available to us. Joy & strength just stream forth from His presence.

Joy is experienced through God’s presence & we can access & lay hold of it any time, any place & in any situation.
It is the inner strengthening that flows forth from humble communion with Father, Son & Spirit.
It gives strength to our spirits from His Spirit. An inner resolve & resilience that builds & fosters our strength.
The strength, confidence & assurance that comes from knowing we are deeply loved & passionately cared for.
The delight of knowing that I bring my Heavenly Father pleasure. He delights over me & I delight Him!!!
The knowledge that we are ever watched over & endlessly protected & provided for.
All of these are a constant source of strength & joy.

Humility helps us to access the strength that accompanies the Lord’s joy (Isaiah 29:19).
The humility to acknowledge that God is above & beyond anything that could ever happen to me.
The humility to keep believing, thanking, praising & trusting no matter what.
The humility to daily delight ourselves in the Lord & His will, ways & word.
The key is to keep positioning our lives & posturing our heart & spirit to receive His joy & strength.
To daily seek the Lord & His strength (1 Chronicles 16:11; Psalm 105:4) is to find the joy & strength that flow from His presence. Pursue His presence to find His joy & strength.

For Reflection

  • Am I in aware that the Lord takes great pleasure in me?
  • In what ways am I humbly coming before, & unto, the Lord?
  • Meditate on the Joy of the Lord being our strength.

A song relating to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for Your joy which brings strength to our lives.
Holy Spirit help me to delight myself in the Lord,
Teach & train us to keep obediently seeking & doing His will, way & word.
This we ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen
