Peace in a Troubled World
Jesus promises & delivers perfect & lasting peace to His followers.
When we know the Prince of Peace His peace takes up residence in our hearts.
The peace of His presence which guards our hearts & minds.
It is the peace that results from knowing & acknowledging that God is in on the throne & in charge of our lives.
A peace that holds firm & strong through the storms of life.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-8
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:14-16
When we place our anxieties, troubles & problems into Jesus’ hands He imparts His peace to our hearts.
Prayer is the pathway for that peace to come to us.
As we look unto God in prayer He responds by sending us His peace.
The peace that transcends & surpasses all our understanding.
The peace that guards & watches over (like a sentry on duty) our hearts & minds.
God comes to us in the midst of whatever we are facing with His peace.
Whether or not the situation or circumstances change for better or worse that peace can remain with us.
The peace of remaining in His presence.
The peace Jesus gives is to rule (act as umpire) in our hearts.
His peace leads us & it directs us. We will know it & feel it in our hearts & spirits.
This peace is to be the deciding factor in all our decision making in life,
Without Jesus’ peace on the matter we do not act.
As so often in the Christian life we live from the inside out.
The inner spirit & heart being the place Christ’s peace resides in & flows from.
Our hearts are to lead us as we experience & act on Jesus’ peace.
The heart confirms what at times the mind struggles to comprehend.
The heart (spirit being) being the source of God’s peace in us.
God’s peace watches over our hearts & it directs our minds.
So wonderful how the Lord cares for, leads & directs His children.
Keep asking the Lord to lead & direct you with His peace.
Keep seeking the presence of God & the peace that is found there.
As we seek His peace we will find it (Isaiah 29:3).
Find His PEACE & remain in His peace. BE STILL & stay in His presence no matter what.
- Am I finding God & His peace in the midst of life’s continuing challenges?
- Am I seeking Jesus’ peace in the daily decisions I am making?
- Meditate on the transcendent & surpassing nature of the peace of God.
2 songs related to this theme:
Heavenly Father & God of peace,
Thank you for the great gift of peace you give,
The peace I find in Your presence,
The peace that enables me to overcome in life.
Lord Jesus envelop & encircle me in Your perfect peace.
Holy Spirit let Your peace flow & flower abundantly in me, & through me.
This I ask in, & through, the mighty Name of Jesus.
