Wholehearted Devotion

The Lord gives His all for us & holds nothing back from His beloved children.
In response He looks for & longs for our wholehearted devotion to Him.
The Scriptures exhort us to wholeheartedly Love the Lord, Trust the Lord, Obey the Lord, Praise the Lord & Work for the Lord.
Yesterday we looked at wholeheartedly loving the Lord by giving Him all we have.
Today we will explore what it means to wholeheartedly trust the Lord.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Here we are exhorted & instructed to trust the Lord with all our hearts.
We are to live from the inspiration that springs forth from our hearts (Proverbs 4:23).
That inspiration coming through intimacy with the Lord Himself.
We are warned about leaning solely upon (trusting) our own understanding.
Our minds & intellects may helpfully inform us but they are not to be the driving force of our lives.
Our hearts must be the drivers of our lives. Their direction being determined by communion with the
Lord.
We live first & foremost from a place of intimacy with the Lord rather than the information we can acquire & obtain.
That is because our hearts take us to places our heads just cannot go.

To trust the Lord with all our hearts is to acknowledge Him in all things.
To lay anything & everything before Him. To seek & look for the Lord above all else (Psalm 121:1-2).
To seek His help & strength in all things through His word, will & ways.
As we do so He will establish & make straight our paths. He will lead & guide us in His will & ways.
Trust Him & He will show you the way.

To trust is to have a strong confidence in, an assured reliance upon, the integrity, character & strength of someone or something.
We can trust the Lord fully because He has ever proved to be reliable, truthful, faithful & trustworthy.
The Lord can be trusted because He is the Creator, the Redeemer & the Eternal One who reigns forever (Psalm 146).
Lord we trust in You, the One alone who has power to save. Hallelujah!

For Reflection

  • What am I trusting God for right now?
  • Do I trust my heart to instruct me or do I rely solely on my intellect & understanding?
  • Meditate upon what it means to wholly trust the Lord.

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that You are ever trustworthy.
Jesus thank you that You trusted the Lord through the midst of darkness & death,
Help me to do the same.
Holy Spirit teach & train me to fully trust the Lord,
Help me to keep & guard my heart in all things.
In Jesus mighty Name.
Amen
