Strength for the Battle
We are strengthened by the Lord, through a number of differing means, in the midst of the battle that is life.
We have already explored a number of these – Our Identity ‘In Christ’, intimacy with Jesus & the indwelling presence & power of the Holy Spirit. Alongside these are intercession & prayer together with praise & worship. Each & every one gives us strength amid the battle.
We are richly, abundantly, wonderfully & powerfully equipped to fight the good fight (1 Timothy 6:12).
The power of Communion is yet another source of strength from the Lord for us. That is our focus for today.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever. Psalm 23:5-6
The Lord prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. That is as I head into & in the heat of battle.
That table is the King’s table – the Communion meal – where His goodness & mercy follow & flow over me.
The cup of blessing & strength from the Lord runs over – SELAH..
Not only is the table abundantly stocked but there is anointing there too!!!
The anointing of Jesus for His people to walk in (1 John 2:20 & 27).
How wonderful is that!! The Lord is just so good to us.
We have explored the Power of Communion in a previous TFTD series.
It is a place of help, strength, sustenance, healing & wholeness.
Every time we take communion we remind ourselves of the victory of Jesus.
In the same manner every time we take communion we proclaim to the enemy Jesus’ eternal victory.
We remind Satan, along with the principalities, powers, mights & dominion’s that serve him, that they are
Communion raises Jesus’ standard & powerfully recalls His past victory upon the cross & proclaims His future glorious reign (Revelation 11:15).
The battle belongs to the Lord & our strength comes from Him.
We have been given such great privilege & such powerful provision in the battle.
A reserved seat at the King’s Communion table with rich nourishment & a cup that runneth over.
Anointed to take our place in the spiritual battle. From the feast to the fight – so good.
Anointed with the anointing of Jesus (Galatians 3:26-27) to strengthen us & help us triumph over the enemy.
Goodness & mercy following us all the days of our lives. Hallelujah!!!
Communion carries power & it is a spiritual resource & practise that renews strength.
A place of fellowship, friendship, forgiveness, family & freedom. SELAH.
It reminds us of Jesus’ great triumph over sin, death & evil & the enemy of his ultimate defeat & eternal destruction.
A prophetic reminder & proclaimer of KING JESUS the Lion of Judah & the Lamb of God – King of kings & Name above all other names.
A sumptuous feast that gives strength & anointing for the fight & battle.
Keep taking up that reservation & your special seat at the King’s table.
- Am I taking up my reserved seat at the King’s Communion table?
- In what ways am I experiencing the anointing of Jesus & how is my cup running over right now?
- Meditate upon the strength we can draw through the power of the Communion meal.
A song related to this theme:
Thank you that You have reserved a place for me at Your table,
That Your goodness & mercy ever follow after, & flow over, me.
King Jesus thank you that You have secured the victory through Your death & resurrection,
That You have defeated sin, death & evil & will forever reign as King of Kings & Lord of lords.
Holy Spirit keep me humbly returning to the King’s table,
That I may feast abundantly to draw new strength to fight the good fight as I battle in the Lord’s army.
This I ask In Jesus mighty Name.
