Heavenly Hymns

The Apostle John introduces us to heaven’s unceasing & ever widening worship in Revelation chapters 4 & 5.
Through the joyful sound of 5 heavenly hymns the ever-expanding choir celebrate the Lord & the Lamb.
Hymns 1 & 2 centre on the Lord God Almighty. Hymns 3 & 4 on the Lamb of God – Jesus the saviour.
They are worthy. Worthy of all honour, praise, glory, strength & power.
In this fifth & final hymn all of creation celebrates through an awesome all-encompassing display of worship.

Then every living being joined the angelic choir.
Every creature in heaven and on earth, under the earth, in the sea, and everything in them, were worshiping with one voice, saying:
“Praise, honour, glory, and dominion be to God-Enthroned
and to Christ the Lamb forever and ever!”
Then the four living creatures responded: “Amen!”
And the twenty-four elders threw themselves facedown to the ground and worshiped. Revelation 5:13-14

Here the 4 living creatures, 24 elders & a countless multitude of angels are joined by all of creation.
All of creation joining in worship to give joyful praise & worship to the Lord & the Lamb who are so worthy of it all.
Every creature in heaven & earth worshipping with one voice the Lord & the Lamb who alone are worthy.
All of creation united in worship of the Creator & Redeemer. So, so good.
Just think how awesome & amazing that will be. Those who are ‘in Christ’ will be there celebrating. SELAH

The united song of the whole universe worshipping the Lord God & the Lamb.
John has beautifully blended the worship of both Father & Son.
They are worthy to receive praise, honour, glory & power for ever & ever.
The 4 living creatures utter their AMENs (let it be so) & the 24 elders are still falling facedown before him who sits upon the throne.
The ever-increasing & expanding choir has reached its limit as heaven cascades down upon the earth. SELAH
Heaven & earth are united in their worship of the One who alone is worthy.

Heaven ceaselessly celebrates the victory of God through Christ & all of creation will join that joyful sound. Hallelujah!!
How wonderful that ‘In Christ’ we will be a part of that great congregation of worshippers.
Giving our all for Him who gave it all for us alongside the angels & the whole of creation. Just majestic!!
Let us keep those melodies & harmonies rising up to the Lord & the Lamb who are worthy. Hallelujah!!!

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I joining with others to worship the Lord?
  • How easily do I find myself offering up heartfelt melodies & harmonies unto the Lord?
  • Meditate upon the united worship of the whole of creation.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that You are forever worthy of all praise & worship,
And that all of creation will offer that to You.
Jesus I celebrate Your great victory,
Help me to keep you at the centre of my life & worship.
Holy Spirit keep me joining with & united with others,
Forever celebrating & worshipping the Lord & the Lamb.
In Jesus mighty Name.
Amen
