The Wonder of the Word

God’s Word Sustains, Strengthens, Signposts, Succours & Saves.
It carries inherent power & authority to transform us into the likeness of Christ.
It is also at work in the believer sanctifying & setting them apart for godly purpose & service.
Scripture works in partnership with the Holy Spirit to make us more & more like Jesus.
That is why a regular rhythm of engaging with & relating to both are so important.
We have to take daily responsibility to lay hold of all the wonders God’s Word affords to us.
Today we will conclude this TFD series by thinking upon how we are to let Word of God dwell in us richly.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16 NKJV

The Apostle Paul encourages the Colossian church to lay hold of the Word of God.
He is talking about the message of Christ & also Christ’s teachings.
The believers are exhorted to let God’s word live, dwell & grow RICHLY (abundantly) within them.
They are to let I dwell in their hearts & minds & allow it to permeate every aspect of their being.
As they do so it will flood & fill them with godly wisdom – heavenly wisdom form above. SELAH
That wisdom can then be applied to daily living to enable us to live in God’s world, God’s way.

As we abide in Scriptures it becomes a part of who we are; shaping & moulding our lives.
It is living & active & dynamically forms the character of Christ in us.
We are those who need bibline blood & enscripturated skulls!!
Heart & minds full of the truth & wisdom of God’s wonderful Word.
We can then teach, train, admonish, counsel & instruct one another through the proper application of
Scripture (2 Timothy 2:15).
The Word of God counselling us to live & walk in the Word, ways & will of the Lord. SELAH

As the Word of God increasingly grows & develops in us it leads to praise & worship of the Lord.
Psalms, hymns & spiritual songs springing forth from hearts that are full of Christ & His Word.
As we lay hold of the Word of God it lays hold of us & increasingly transforms us to be more & more like Jesus.
There is personal development for the believer & a practical application in discipleship of the Church. SELAH
Dual benefits that work for the benefit & blessings of the individual believer & the Christian community. So, so good.
How wonderful is the Word of God. Do all you can to let it abide & grow in you.
Intentionally invest to let the Word of God dwell richly in you. Hallelujah!!

For Reflection

  • How rich is my appetite & hunger for the Word of God?
  • In what ways am I taking personal responsibility & also benefitting from the Christian community I am a part of?
  • Meditate upon how the Word of God is to dwell richly & abundantly in us.

A song related to this theme:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the wonder working dynamic power of Your Word,
That it takes hold of me & is ever at work to develop the character of Christ in me.
Jesus thank you that there is power & authority in Your kingdom message & teaching,
Teach & train me to daily dwell in it so that it floods & fills me with Your wisdom.
Holy Spirit gift & grace unto me the discipline & dedication to rightly divide the Word of truth,
That I might grow & develop personally & also be a ready source of help & strength to my Christian brethren.
This I ask in the mighty Name of Jesus.
