Heavenly Hymns

Endless worship & ceaseless praise of the Lord God & the Lamb is at the core of Heaven’s culture.
Worship, in a rhythm of repetition, is the order of the day, every day. Hallelujah!!
The apostle John gets caught up to the throne room of heaven in the midst of this worship.
Here he hears 5 incredible heavenly hymns offered by the heavenly host.
Having previously studied the first we will focus in on the second one today.

“You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honour and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11

This first hymn sung by the 4 living creatures focuses upon the Lord God who is holy, holy, holy (Revelation 4:8).
This second hymn is offered by the twenty-four elders falling facedown & casting their crowns before the throne.
The Lord God is recognised & praised for being worthy. Worthy to receive glory, honour & power.
He is the creator of all things & through His continuing will all things are held together.
The Lord God is both creator & sustainer of all things (Genesis 1:1-13; Colossians 1:15-18).
Nothing & no one exists outside of Him. The origin & existence of all is in the hands of the Lord. SELAH

The 24 elders fall facedown before the feet of Him who sits upon the throne. Repeatedly they do this (Revelation 7:11,11:16, 19:4).
They prostrate themselves for worship is to bow down, to kiss the feet of the Lord God.
We can do this in our hearts & spirits & at times we may want to do this with our bodies.
They also cast their crowns (of honour & life) before the Lord. Honouring the Lord above all else.
These elders are symbolic of the overcoming church clothed in Christ’s righteousness, casting their crowns of life before the Lord. (Revelation 3:4-5 & 3:21; James 1:12)

To be overcomers with Christ in the Christian life we must be worshippers.
We must be those who will repeatedly humble ourselves & honour the Lord above all else.
The 24 elders show us the way in worship, along with what awaits us if we will keep worshipping the Lord. SELAH
Worthy O worthy are You Lord. Let those melodies & harmonies flow. Hallelujah!!!

For Reflection

  • In what ways am I maintaining a rhythm & cycle of worship unto the Lord in my life?
  • How easily do I find it to bow down before the Lord in both my heart & my body?
  • Meditate upon what it means to bow down in worship before the Lord.

A song related to this theme:

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Lord God Almighty,
Thank you that You are worthy of ALL honour, glory & power,
For You are my Creator, Redeemer & Sustainer. I give You glory & praise.
Jesus Lamb of God, my Saviour, thank you that shed Your precious blood to set me free.
Holy Spirit teach me to live & walk (to worship) in a way that ever glorifies the Lord.
O Lord God & the Lamb You are worthy of it ALL.
In Jesus mighty Name.
Amen
